Sickle-winged Skipper
Achylodes thraso
The Sickle-winged Skipper (Achylodes thraso) occurs in south Texas where it is sometimes fairly common. The first two shots here were taken at Santa Ana N.W.R., Hidalgo Co., Texas, in October, 2004, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender. This butterfly may now be known as Northern Sicklewing (Eantis tamenund). I will try to clarify this for my own education and post the correct name here eventually.
