The Great Spangled Fritillary (Speyeria cybele) is a common butterfly over the northern two thirds of the United States as well as parts of Canada. The species differs in appearance depending on where it occurs. The first 4 shots on this page, of a Great Basin form female, were taken along Beaver Creek, Fremont Co., Wyoming, in August, 2008. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and Canon 580 flash.
