The Eastern Wood-Pewee (Contopus virens) nests widely across the eastern half of the United States and Canada. It's summer call is very familiar to persons who spend any time in forests or parks in these regions. The species winters in northern South America. The first two shots here show spring migrants on their way north to the nesting grounds. Both these shots were taken on South Padre Island, Cameron Co., Texas, with a Canon T-90 and Sigma 500mm F/4.5 lens and 1.4X extender on Fuji Sensia film. The first shot was taken in April, 1995 and the next shot in April, 1997. | ![]() |
