| The Superb Green Cicada (Tibicen superbus) is a summer resident of the south-central United States west to New Mexico. Sometimes called simply Green Cicada or "harvest flies" or "dog day cicada" these insects emerge from the larva stage during the hot days of summer. The first 4 shots on this page show Green Cicadas in Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in July, 2008.
