Southern Cloudywing
Thorybes bathyllus
The Southern Cloudywing (Thorybes bathyllus) is widespread across most of the eastern half of the United States. The first shot on this page was taken was taken in the Ouachita National Forest, Montgomery Co., Arkansas, in June, 2009, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and Canon 580 flash.
The next two images show the same individual Southern Cloudywing. These two images were taken in the Kisatchie National Forest, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, in April, 2011, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and a Sigma 50-500mm lens and Canon 580 flash. I thank Nick Grishin for identifying this species from my photos.
