Mourning Cloak
Nymphalis antiopa
The Mourning Cloak (Nymphalis antiopa) is also referred to as Battus philoenor in some older publications. This species occurs across most of the United States, south through Mexico. Within the U.S., it is usually more common in the west. The first image shown here was taken in Teton Co., Wyoming, in October, 1997.
