Henry's Elfin
Callophrys henrici
The Henry's Elfin (Callophrys henrici) is an uncommon early spring butterfly of parts of the eastern United States. The species is only seen during the early spring season each year. In central Texas the species is essentially a butterfly seen only in March. The first 4 shots on this page were taken in Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in March, 2010, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and Canon 580 flash.
The Henry's Elfin on the right was found at Boykin Springs, Jasper Co., Texas, in March, 2011. This shot was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and a Sigma 50-500mm lens and Canon 580 flash.
