Lycaena epixanthe
The Bog Copper (Lycaena epixanthe) is usually considered the smallest butterfly in the Copper family. It is a summer resident of the northeast United States and Canada and occurs on acid bogs, often where cranberries grow. The first two shots of Bog Copper on this page were taken in June, 2010, at Ponemah Bog, Hillsborough Co., New Hampshire, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash.
