| The Common Gallinule (Gallinula galeata) is a duck-like member of the Rail family with a nearly worldwide distribution. Within the United States, it breeds across much of the country and may be found in winter across the southern states as well as Mexico. The shot of two adults shown here was taken at Anahuac N.W.R., Chambers Co., Texas, in April, 1999. This shot was taken with a Canon EOS 1N and EF 300mm F/2.8 L lens and 2X extender on Fuji Sensia film. The next two shots at right were taken at the same time and place. |  |
